Sj\u00e4lva staden Marbella \u00e4r en kombination av tv\u00e5 st\u00e4der, det gamla Marbella och det nya som byggts under 1960- och fram\u00e5t.<br><br>Den gamla staden domineras av smala gator och sm\u00e5 vita hus och den mest k\u00e4nda platsen \u00e4r f\u00f6rmodligen Plaza de los Naranjos \u2013 apelsintorget.<br><br>I den nya staden byggdes det m\u00e4ngder av villa och radhusurbanisationer, lyxhotell och l\u00e4genhetskomplex. Staden kan vid f\u00f6rsta anblicken ge en stereotyp bild och det \u00e4r nog m\u00e5ngas uppfattning, men den \u00e4r tvekl\u00f6st Costa del Sols och hela Spaniens mest k\u00e4nda och i en klass f\u00f6r sig sj\u00e4lv.<br><br>Det f\u00f6rra kommunstyret, med den kontroversielle borgm\u00e4staren Jesus Gil i spetsen, gjorde stora f\u00f6r\u00e4ndringar i staden. Moderniserat strandpromenaden, planterat tusentals v\u00e4xter och tr\u00e4d och f\u00e5tt den, p\u00e5 1980-talet relativt nedg\u00e5ngna staden, att p\u00e5 nytt bli Costa del Sols mest intressanta och bes\u00f6kta turistplats.<br><br>Gils metoder var inte alltid varit popul\u00e4ra i alla kretsar, och han var en mycket ifr\u00e5gasatt person, som motarbetades av de andra politiska partierna. Men han \u00e5stadkom \u201dunderverk\u201d med staden som nu blommat upp igen och p\u00e5 nytt attraherar Spaniens och Europas s.k. \u201djet \u2013 set\u201d.<br><br>Dessutom har flera av oljeshejkerna och deras familjer etablerat sig i omr\u00e5det och d\u00e4rf\u00f6r har ocks\u00e5 en mosk\u00e9 uppf\u00f6rts strax utanf\u00f6r Marbella. Marbella erbjuder det mesta en bes\u00f6kare eller bofast kan dr\u00f6mma om. Utbudet \u00e4r komplett och det finns bl.a otaliga golfbanor, tennisanl\u00e4ggningar, sportkomplex, ett stort antal konstgallerier och en aff\u00e4rsm\u00e4ssa och kongresspalats. Marbella har tre b\u00e5thamnar och en fiskehamn inom kommungr\u00e4nsen.<br><br>Den mest ber\u00f6mda \u00e4r Puerto Banus mellan Marbella och San Pedro de Alc\u00e1ntara. Det mest attraktiva i Puerto Banus har alltid varit hamnen och det speciella nattliv som skapas i omr\u00e5det med en h\u00e4pnadsv\u00e4ckande samling yachter, Rolls-Royce i l\u00e5nga rader och Lamborghinis som fraktar sina passagerare till och fr\u00e5n det n\u00e4rbel\u00e4gna casinot till tr\u00e5nga barer och l\u00e4ckra restauranger d\u00e4r man n\u00e4stan varje kv\u00e4ll ser n\u00e5gon v\u00e4rldsk\u00e4ndis.<br><br>I n\u00e4rheten av Puerto Banus ligger Nueva Andalucia som \u00e4r ett omr\u00e5de med fyra k\u00e4nda golfbanor, Aloha \u2013 Los Naranjos \u2013 Las Brisas och La Quinta \u2013 och d\u00e4r tusentals nordeuropeer har skaffat sig en bostad.<br><br>I detta omr\u00e5de bor det mest svenskar p\u00e5 hela kusten, t\u00e4tt f\u00f6ljt av Fuengirola. Nueva Andalucia har ocks\u00e5 en stor tjurf\u00e4ktningsarena och ett av kustens tv\u00e5 kasinon, Casino Nueva Andalucia.<br><br>De \u00f6vriga tv\u00e5 sm\u00e5b\u00e5tshamnarna ligger i Cabopino \u00f6ster om Marbella och i sj\u00e4lva Marbella. San Pedro de Alc\u00e1ntara \u00e4r en stad f\u00f6r sig sj\u00e4lv men tillh\u00f6r Marbella kommun.
