The company was founded in 1993. Initially, they transported mostly general cargo and furniture, but over the years the traffic has expanded and today foodstuffs are also included in the flow of goods.
"Foodstuffs have become a major niche for Vittsjö Åkeri. Today we serve all major stores and wholesalers on the Costa del Sol, as well as many on the Costa Blanca." says Torbjörn Bergström, who is the second generation of hauliers at Vittsjö Åkeri and continues: "We transport everything from dry goods to fresh refrigerated goods and frozen goods. Shippers in Sweden are major wholesalers but also bakeries and delicatessens. We also receive foodstuffs from Finland, which are sent to Sweden, so that Vittsjö Åkeri can quickly transport them to the Costa del Sol. We have also become a retailer of weekly newspapers, which we distribute directly from Sweden to the stores in Spain. The newspapers may not be our most profitable business, but it is a good service to our customers."

The transports that Vittsjö Åkeri performs place high demands on punctuality, a two-hour delay can mean major losses for their customers. That's why they have the most modern fleet of vehicles, all of which are rated Euro 6, currently the highest environmental rating for Volvo trucks. "Continuous service and maintenance of the vehicles is a must as there is no room for any stops along the road," adds Torbjörn.
