Weather for Mijas

Mijas Pueblo is located 8 km from Fuengirola up towards the Mijas Mountains. It is a typical Andalusian mountain village with a fantastic view of Fuengirola and the Mediterranean Sea. The municipality of Mijas is large in area and it extends down to and borders Fuengirola and on one side of Fuengirola all the way down to the Mediterranean Sea. This means that well-known villages such as La Cala de Mijas and Calahonda belong to the municipality of Mijas and not to Fuengirola as it is easy to believe geographically.
A strange situation is that the municipality of Mijas has more foreigners than Spaniards!!
Mijas is therefore a pioneer municipality when it comes to establishing a foreigners department at the municipal town hall. They were the first to do this on the coast (perhaps even in the whole of Spain) and now they have expanded to three different offices with English and Danish speaking staff – geographically located in the town hall in Mijas village, in the Police Station in La Cala de Mijas and in Calahonda.
One of the popular ways to get around Mijas Pueblo as a tourist is on the back of a donkey. It is called a “donkey taxi” (burro taxi) and it is one of the tourist attractions in Mijas village.
